The Boardwalk (or 'Boardwalk Hotel and Casino' to quote the official website) is one of those funny places in Las Vegas that just seems to exist - without really having anything to cause you to notice it at all. With 654 rooms it isn't exactly a small place either - except if you are talking in Las Vegas terms of course, but it just kind of gets lost amongst the mega-resorts that surround it: Bellagio, Monte Carlo, Aladdin etc.
The Boardwalk is actually owned by MGM Mirage Resorts who acquired the property when they bought the Mirage chain. MGM plan to construct a 'Generation X' themed resort on the site sometime in the future (although how far in the future this might be is far from certain at the moment!)

In the meantime we have this somewhat quaint Coney Island (or if you're from the UK, Blackpool Pleasure Beach) style casino that simply doesn't have the same 'wow' factor as it's neighbours. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing inherently wrong with either Coney Island or Blackpool, it's just that set amongst Bellagio and Monte Carlo the Boardwalk just doesn't quite cut it.
However, having just spent over $1.5m updating all of the rooms and suites there's every chance of a bargain room in a great location, and if you feel the need for old-funfair-style surroundings, stop by the Boardwalk - you might just catch a whiff of sea-air!!
