Right, I know I'm going to get in to trouble, what-ever I write about the Rio. Somehow this is a resort that a lot of people have a lot of feelings for. It certainly has a lot going for it - until the opening of Venetian this was the only all-suite resort in Las Vegas (indeed the Rio is often referred to as 'Rio Suites'). It also has a huge casino - or should a say casinos because additions to the resort over time have created a number of linked-rooms that do from time-to-time feel a bit maze-like!

It also has a very well-developed carnival-style theme - complete with the 'Carnival in the Sky' which features floats carried around the ceiling of the casino, guests who pay to dress up in carnival gear and ride the floats, and complete chaos in the watching crowds who fight for the beaded necklaces thrown out during the show.
But somehow I think there's something missing. Maybe it's the off-strip location - which I am sure appeals to a lot of people. From my point-of-view the Strip in recent years has become a place for walking - the newer resorts have added exterior features that you only really see on foot - and you just can't walk to the Rio. That said, if you don't mind the off-strip location, the Rio has everything that you could need for a luxury Vegas Vacation!
