Well, here we go, the next resort specifically modeled (and named) after a city (after New York, New York of course!) I Wonder how long it will be before my London idea takes off?
Paris is already yet another Las Vegas milestone - featuring amongst many other things a half height (i.e. 50 stories!) replica of that most memorable Parisian landmark - La Tour Eiffel, an Arc de Triomphe and even an entry-road that models the Place Charles de Gaulle Etoile that surrounds the real Arc de Triomphe!

The hotel itself is modeled on the 'Hotel de Ville' (but is rather significantly taller!) and in a shocking move bucks the trend for three-pointed towers by going for a four-pointed version! What will they think of next? Anyway, the tower features 34 floors, some 3000 rooms and another 300 suites, giving a total of 3,314.
Of course when you look at the size of the plot that Paris is built on, it becomes clear why they have a four-pointed tower. In fact Paris and it's owner/neighbour Ballys share a plot that is only as wide as Bellagio. This constraint means that the pool is above the casino at the front, and that if you get a room at the back all you get is a view of the roof of the parking garage. Ask for a strip facing room!

I have to say that Paris is another resort where the outside impresses significantly more than the inside. Paris looks fantastic, I mean it's almost more Parisian than the real thing! Inside and although it is gorgeously appointed, it just feels small after the grandeur and scale of Mandalay Bay or Bellagio. The Casino feels very small and cramped, and even the lovely rooms are a little on the pokey side.
The funniest thing about Paris though is the wonderful use of franglais all over the place - for example everything has le or l' in front of it - even when it is completely out of place, and as for 'L'Hotel Elevators' - ha, wonderful, the French will be spitting teeth!
On the plus side, the food is great - especially for breakfast where you can escape that staple of American cuisine - the Muffin - for some very realistic Croisants, Baguettes, and even real French 'beurre'
